(KLZA) Missouri’s unemployment rate has dropped to its lowest point in 52 months during January. The Department of Economic Development says the unemployment rate fell to six point five percent. In comparison, the national unemployment rate is seven point nine percent, making Missouri below the national unemployment rate for 41 consecutive months. Spokesman John Fougere. Even though the unemployment rate decreased, Missouri actually lost 4,700 jobs in January. Job losses were reported in transportation, utilities, manufacturing and the information sector. Financial services and construction jobs increased during the month.
There are approximately 3-million people working in Missouri.
