( KAIR )--A Silver Alert was cancelled early this ( Thursday ) morning for a missing elderly Atchison County man after he was found safe.
Atchison County Sheriff Jack Laurie says 84-year-old Homer Saxton was located in Horton by the Horton Police Department.
Laurie says Saxton's Silver Alert was viewed online by a convenience store clerk near Oregon, Missouri when the clerk arrived at home after her shift was complete. The clerk recognized Saxton and said she gave him directions back to the Atchison County area after he purchased gasoline from the convenience store where she worked.
Laurie says Saxton was returned to his family at his home by the Atchison County Sheriff's Office. He said they had 60 to 70 people out in the area looking for him including members of the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department, and numerous volunteer fireman and EMT's from Atchison and Brown Counties.
The Silver Alert for Saxton had been issued Wednesday night.
