(KNZA)--A meeting of the USD 429 Board of Education Monday evening ends with the selection of a new superintendent for the Troy Schools.
He is Brian Harris, who has been involved with Kansas public education for 37-years, including time as the principal of Nemaha Valley High School in Seneca, Principal of Clay Center Community High School and Superintendent of the Nemaha Valley School District, where he retired in 2010.
Since September of 2010, Harris has served as interim Superintendent for the Republic County Schools of USD 109. During his time of leadership, the district rose from “on watch” status, due to Annual Yearl Progress deficiencys to consistently making AYP at all buildings.

Harris, who begins his new role at the start of the next school year, will replace current Troy Schools Superintendent Sue King who announced her resignation in December.
The annual salary for Harris is $82,500, plus fringe benefits of $7387.20, meaning a total of $89,887.20.
