(KTNC) - The Humboldt City Council approved the bid for a new fire truck as presented by Fire Chief Rex Kappel Tuesday night. The city’s portion of the cost of the new fire truck amounts to $57,956, which is 40-percent of the cost of the truck. The Humboldt Rural Fire Department will pick up the majority of the cost of the new truck.
In other business, the Humboldt City Council held more discussion regarding SENDD’s Code Enforcement Program with Emily Bausch.
Bausch will work out the details of a contract with City Attorney Vic Faesser, and the council will consider approving the contract at a future meeting.
The council met with Bob Mendenhall regarding repairs to Cemetery Road. The council agreed Tuesday night to place aggregate on the road for the time being and discuss further repairs to the road later when they form the next city budget.
The council approved the first payment to Van Kirk Brothers Contracting for work on the water transmission line improvement project, in the amount of $221,030.
The council approved a request to provide two swimming pool passes as part of a Friends of the Library fundraiser.
And the City of Humboldt has again been designated as a “Tree City USA” by the Nebraska Forest Service and the Arbor Day Foundation.
