( KMZA )-A fundraising campaign to purchase benches for Seneca’s downtown Main Street sidewalks is a success.
Courtney Schmelzle serves as executive director of Seneca Downtown Impact, which spearheaded the “ Buy a Bench” campaign that kicked over a couple of months ago.
Schmelzle says they’ve had an overwhelming response, selling 19 benches in about a month and a half. Individuals and businesses could purchase a bench for $800.
The Seneca City Council last week received an update on the project and agreed to purchase two benches.
Schmelzle says they plan to place the order for the benches February 1st.
Anyone who would still like to purchase a bench should contact Schmelzle at 785-336-1313 by that time. If you would like to place an order at a later date, it will cost a little more because of freight.
Schmelzle says the benches should arrive in early spring.
