Update: Mayetta Murder Suspects in Custody
01/18/2013

(KNZA)--The man wanted for the January 10th shooting death of a Mayetta man is now in custody, found in Iowa.

That word from Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse.

Mayetta resident Lloyd Wabaunsee went on the run after 29-year-old Kevin Stanley was shot to death at a Mayetta residence.

The 22-year-old Wabaunsee was located along with Desiree Shopteese, who is also now listed as a suspect in Stanley's death.

The two were found hiding in the trunk of a car by U.S Marshals and members of the Urbandale, Iowa Police Department. That happened around 10:00 Thursday night.

Multiple law enforcement agencies have been involved in the investigation.

When it was revealed last weekend that Shopteese was with Wabaunsee, she was not listed as a suspect. That now changes following her apprehension.

She is believed to have a possible connection to the December shooting death of two Topeka Police officers. She is identified as the fiance of accused shooter David Tiscareno who was shot to death following a standoff with police.

Two others are also in custody in connection to the case.

Rachel Dawn Hudson, of Denison, and Aaron Vance Lofton, of Topeka, are both held on Jackson County District Court Warrants for obstructing apprehension or prosecution.

All four were found together in a Chevy Impala parked in a grocery store parking lot.

The arrests were made without incident.

Shopteese, who is held on a Jackson County District Court Warrant for 2nd degree murder with a bond of 150-thousand-dollars, has refused extradition.

Waubansee, held on a Jackson County District Court Warrrant for 2nd degree murder with bond set at 500-thousand-dollars, awaits his court appearance.

Hudson and Lofton remain in the Polk County, Iowa Jail, held on bond of 25-thousand-dollars each.  They have waived extradition and are expected to be transported back to Kansas.

Friday afternoon Jackson County Authorities were applying for a search warrant with the Polk County Iowa District Court to process the 2004 Chevy Impala that all four suspects had occupied.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the shooting death of Stanley is continuing.
