(KNZA)--Preparing for a real life disaster is the reason for a special training coming to Horton later this month, and members of the community are invited to take part.
It will happen January 26th, when the Midland Chapter of the American Red Cross partners with the City of Horton to hold the shelter exercise at the Community Blue Building.
Focus during the afternoon session, running from 1 until 4:00, will be placed on shelter operations and procedures, including use of available resources, such as mobilization of the Red Cross Shelter Response Trailer which will be made available at the shelter site.
Working and communicating as a team will be a key focus for the day, with volunteers to open and operate the trailer during the training exercise.
All community volunteers and organizations are invited to participate, and can do so by contacting Community Service Officer James Stuart at 785-487-2633.
He can also be emailed, as soon as possible, with the number of those who plan to participate. james.stuart@hortonkansas.net
