Commissioners Discuss Memorial Hall Revitalization
01/03/2013

(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners learned more about the proposed Memorial Hall window lintel project at Wednesday’s Regular meeting.

The lintels, which is the metal surrounding the windows on the building, are in need of replacement.

Memorial Hall is on the National Register of Historical Places and could qualify for a grant to restore it to its original form.

However, County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says that may pose a problem.

Commissioners have discussed potentially putting in energy efficient windows with the possibility of getting a 25 percent tax credit as a result.

However, Schuele says the county’s share for the project could become pricy.

Commissioners also approved the lone fuel bid for 2013 from Jackson Farmers.

The price for over the road diesel was three dollars and 50 cents a gallon and dyed diesel at three 24 a gallon.

Commissioners will also alter their meeting times from the afternoon to 9:15 the next two Monday mornings.
