(KTNC) - Three people from Mississippi were treated for minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident Monday morning on Interstate 29 in Holt County, Missouri.
The three injured were passengers in a southbound 2003 Ford Windstar van that struck the rear of a 2004 GMC Safari.
The State Patrol says the Safari’s driver, 19-year-old Heather Sipes of Oregon, Missouri, had stopped the vehicle on the right shoulder of the southbound lanes of I-29, five miles east of Oregon. The Safari had just reentered traffic when it was struck. The driver of the Windstar, Barbara Rush of Horn Lake, Mississippi, was unable to slow down in time to avoid the accident.
Neither driver was injured. Two of Rush’s sons and one daughter, who were passengers in the Windstar, were taken by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph with minor injuries. Both drivers and all passengers were wearing seat belts.
The accident occurred shortly before 11:00 a.m. Monday morning.
