(KAIR) -- In the wake of the mass school shooting that took place Friday in Newtown, Connecticut, Atchison Public Schools have plans in place to handle such tragedies.
Curriculum Director Robert Mueller says district officials were in communication to prep instructors over the weekend.

Mueller says for safety from outside threats, they rely on the security of the controlled access systems installed around a year ago for each school in the district.

He also says if security standards happen to be breached, various people have been trained for the next course of action.
