EPA Mandate Means High Cost For Holton

(KNZA)--A costly expenditure, now approved by the Holton City Commission, comes not through local need but due to federal mandates made through the Environmental Protection Agency.  

City Manager Bret Bauer says that's the reason behind the bid award, costing thousands, approved in regards to the installation of catalyst converters for the city's power production units(Play Audio)

Meanwhile, with the deadline to complete installation approaching, Bauer says an extension for completion of the total project is being sought(Play Audio) 

The catalyst converters are required by EPA in order to reduce hazardous emissions from power plants.
