( KMZA )The Nemaha County Commission has voted to appropriate additional funding from the Broxterman Estate to Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice for the purchase of equipment.
Nemaha County Home Health Hospice Director Patty Remmers Monday showed commissioners a tablet that was purchased earlier with funds from the Broxterman Estate. Remmers requested additional funding from the Estate to help pay for mobile printers for her staff members and for teleconference equipment for the conference room at the Sabetha Hospital.
The commission voted to appropriate up to $3,400 from the Broxterman Estate for the purchase of the equipment.
In other business, representatives of DOVES Inc. met with commissioners to explained the services provided by the Atchison-based non-profit organization and request financial assistance from the county.
DOVES provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence in six northeast Kansas counties—including Nemaha.
The commission advised the group to talk with them again in June of next year when they are working to prepare the 2014 county budget.
Sheriff Rich Vernon introduced new deputy Josh Winkler of Centralia to commissioners. Winkler began work Monday.
He also reported they are currently holding 13 inmates in jail.
