(KNZA)-Although numerous Veteran's Day commemorations were held across the local area over the weekend, many businesses across the nation will observe the holiday today, because it fell on Sunday.

The origin of Veteran's Day dates back to the November 11th, 1918 armistice that brought World War 1 to an end.
It became a federally recognized holiday in 1954.
