Road Construction Season Winds Down in NW Missouri
11/08/2012

(KTNC) - As the 2012 road construction season draws to a close in Missouri, drivers in the northwest corner of the state are benefiting from road construction projects completed this past year.  That’s according to the Missouri Department of Transportation, which says it is doing the best it can with the resources it has available to provide the best transportation system possible.
Among projects completed this year was the U.S. Highway 136 Bridge over the Missouri River at Brownville, which saw a three-year rehabilitation project draw to a close.
This year saw flood repairs to several roads in the wake of the 2011 Missouri River flood.  Repairs were completed on Highway 159, and Routes P, 111, and 113 in Holt County, and Highway 136, and Routes D, U, and E in Atchison County.
Projects completed in Holt County included asphalt overlays on Highway 159 from I-29 to Highway 59, and Route E from Highway 59 at Mound City to Highway 159.
Atchison County projects completed this year include an asphalt overlay on Route 111 from Corning north.
A project to replace the Highway 136 Bridge over the Little Tarkio Creek is in progress.
MO-Dot officials are encouraging motorists to drive safely to arrive at their destinations.  For more information about MO-Dot projects, visit
