(KAIR) -- Atchison County will have a high representation at the National Corn Shucking Contest this weekend.
County residents won eight out of nine events at the state competition in Oakley last weekend.
They will now compete in Central City, Nebraska, near Grand Island, on Sunday.
Representing Kansas in the team contest will be Christy Penning, Charlie Wagner and John Scherer.
Representing in the 14 and under class is 13-year-old Jared Wagner.
John Scherer also will compete in the 50 and over class.
Other national competitors will be Trisha Penning, Jenna Scherer, Donna Fairbanks, Ray Penning and Paul Becker.
