(KAIR) -- Benedictine College will honor three former Raven student-athletes at its annual Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday night.
David Herne, Pat George, and Elizabeth (Nielsen) Gleason, will enter the Hall of Fame in ceremonies during the college’s Homecoming Weekend.
The Hall of Fame Banquet is set for 6:00 that evening, tentatively scheduled in the College Cafeteria.
George, who is the current Kansas Secretary of Commerce, earned a spot on the NAIA All-District 10 football team and an Honorable Mention All-American.
He was selected by his Raven teammates as the 1977 season’s Most Valuable Player before graduating from BC in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
In addition to being honored by his teammates, his coaches also noted his knowledge of the game and leadership skills, which were put on display when he was elected to be Kansas Representative of the 119th District in 2004.
George says he’s honored to be selected to the hall.

She earned All-Conference accolades in both long jump and triple jump events all four years as well and was also an Academic All-American in volleyball and track and field.
The 2000 grad will be the first track athlete to ever be inducted into the Benedictine College Athletic Hall of Fame.
A complete interview with Secretary George may be heard in the segment “Where are They Now?” Saturday on KAIR Radio at halftime of the Homecoming football game.
