(KTNC) - Humboldt’s water system improvement project took another big step forward Tuesday night. The City Council awarded bids for two components of the project to two different contractors.
The council awarded the bid to construct the water transmission main to VanKirk Brothers Contracting of Sutton, Nebraska. Their bid of one million, 286-thousand, 254 dollars was the lowest of four bids the city received.
The council also awarded a bid for construction of the clearwell and blending station improvements at the new well field. That contract was awarded to Eriksen Construction of Blair, Nebraska, in the amount of one million, 665-thousand dollars. That was the only bid received for that part of the project.
Eriksen Construction recently completed construction on Pawnee City’s new sewer plant.
Construction on Humboldt’s water transmission main and blending station improvements are to be completed by October 2013.
In other business, the Humboldt City Council appointed Eugene Volker to the Tree Board.
