( KNZA )-- A resurfacing project is set to resume this week on Oregon Street in Hiawatha.
According to Hiawatha City officials, Hamm Inc. of Perry will start work Thursday at the west end of Oregon Street and proceed east to 1st Street.
A specific schedule will be released later.
The city is asking that all vehicles be removed from the street during the project. Vehicles not removed will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Crews will be starting at 7 o’clock each morning.
The project is expected to take about a week to complete.
Earlier this month, Dustrol Inc. of Towanda milled the existing pavement in preparation for the new asphalt overlay.
The Kansas Department of Transportation says once the Oregon Street project is complete, work will resume on the U.S. 73 resurfacing project from the Kansas/Nebraska state line to the north city limits of Horton in Brown County.
Hamm Inc. is the general contractor on both projects.
