Hiawatha Boy Charged with Rape and Sodomy
HIAWATHA, Kan. (AP) - A 12-year-old Hiawatha boy is charged with sexual assault in Brown County.
Brown County Attorney Kevin Hill said Friday the boy faces two counts of rape and two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy. Hill told the Topeka Capital Journal he filed charges last week on the same day he received reports from the sheriff's office and state social service officials.
Because of the suspect's age, Hill said he couldn't release any more information about the case, including the age of the victim and whether there was more than one.
Hill also declined to say where the boy was being held. The boy has been appointed a lawyer to represent him. Hill was in court Friday and couldn't immediately return a call from The Associated Press.
