(KAIR) -- After initial figures showed a proposed eight percent increase from the 2012 budget, Atchison County Commissioners were able to trim the 2013 budget to a less than one percent increase.
Atchison County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says it can be contributed to fund consolidation into the general fund.

In total, nine funds were consolidated.

In total, this equates to a raise of 52 thousand dollars from last year, compared to 655 thousand dollars from initial estimates for publication.
The proposed published mill rate is 49.273 mills. One mill equals 131 thousand 571 dollars.
A public hearing on the published budget will be on September 24th at the County Commission Room in the courthouse.
Schuele indicates that some numbers are estimates from last year’s numbers, meaning that figures from items like solid waste and health insurance could make the final budget numbers be lower.
