The defending Class 1A-Division II state champs, the B&B Falcons, continue to have yet another successful volleyball season as they claimed the Nemaha Valley Invite crown over the weekend. The tournament featured 10 teams with nine being from the Kanzaland area.
In the purple pool it was the Falcons coming out of the pool undefeated, followed by Rock Creek both advancing to the semifinals. While in the white pool it was the host the Nemaha Valley Raiders coming out of that pool undefeated with Marysville following them up.
B&B meet up with Marysville and Nemaha Valley took on Rock Creek in the two semifinal matchups of the day. It was a straight set win for the Falcons just like every other match up to that point in the day as they advance to the championship with a 25-14, 25-16 win. The Falcons would find themselves pitted against Rock Creek for the second time on the day as Rock Creek took down Nemaha Valley in three tough sets in the semifinals (26-28, 25-19, 25-22).
It was a tough two set win for B&B the first time against Rock Creek in pool play and this time the match would be pushed to three sets as the Falcons fell in set one but responded with two striaght sets and the tournament crown (24-26, 25-21, 25-18). Nemaha Valley and Marysville meet up in the third place game and it too was a contested matchup going three sets with the Raiders falling in set one but rallying to take the next two sets to win third place (18-25, 25-16, 27-25).
B&B finished the tournament with the first place finish and a perfect 6-0; second place Rock Creek went 4-2 in the tournament; third place Nemaha Valley finished 5-1 and fourth place Marysville finsihed 3-3.
