It was a weekend packed full of high school volleyball tournaments around the state of Kansas.
Frankfort played host to an eight team tournament over the weekend that featured five Kanzaland are teams; four from the Twin Valley league (Frankfort, Washington County, Onaga and Wetmore) and one from the Delaware Valley league (Doniphan West). Other schools particapating were: Vertias Christian, St. Xavier and Cair Paravel.
It would be the TVL dominating the court on Saturday in the tournament as the semifinals afert pool play featured all four TVL teams pitted against each other for a chance to reach the finals and win the tournament crown. Washington County after a 3-0 pool play took on Onaga won was 2-1 in pool play in one semifinal, while Wetmore who was 2-1 in pool play took on Frankfort who was 3-0 in pool play in the other semifinal. Washington County and Wetmore both won in straight sets in their, respective semifinals, meaning they would meet up again for the second time on the day after Washington County beat Wetmore in straight sets in pool play.
In the championship game it was Washington County yet again, winning in straight sets (25-12 & 25-21) to capture the the Frankfort Invite crown and finish the day perfect with a 5-0 record. Wetmore finished in second place on the day with a 3-2 record (both losses to Washington County).
The other Kanzaland area schools finished as so: Frankfort tallied a 3-1 record, Onaga 2-2 and Doniphan West 2-3 (lost to Vertias Christian in the conslotaion finals).
