(KTNC) - Eight teenagers were injured Saturday, in a one-vehicle accident on a Nemaha County Nebraska road.
The accident happened just before seven o’clock Saturday evening. The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department says 17-year-old Kayla Reed of Nemaha was driving a 2005 Chevy SUV south on Highway 67, about three-tenths of a mile south of Highway 136, when she lost control of the vehicle which left the road, struck an embankment and rolled onto the driver’s side.
Authorities say the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and Reed overcorrected, causing the vehicle to cross the highway and enter the east ditch.
One passenger, an ex-boyfriend of Reed, told investigators that Reed was purposely swerving the vehicle back and forth when she lost control, though the other occupants said they did not recall how the accident happened.
Reed and seven passengers in the vehicle, ranging in age from 15 to 19 years old, were taken to the Nemaha County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
