( KNZA )-- A Brown County methamphetamine case will be prosecuted at the federal level.
At the request of the U.S. Attorney’s office in Nebraska and federal Drug Enforcement Administration, County Attorney Kevin Hill says he dismissed without prejudice this week charges against Melissa Alvarez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, which allows charges to be re-filed in the future...( play audio )
Alvarez had been charged in Brown County with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell and no drug tax stamp.
She was arrested July 16th after a traffic stop south of Sabetha on U.S. 75 lead to the seizure of about 11 pounds of suspected meth.
Hill says Alvarez remains in the Brown County Jail awaiting pickup by the U.S. Marshal’s Service.
