As a special event at Agriland this year, the Peterson Farm Bros., creators of the viral YouTube video “I’m Farming and I Grow It,” will be at the exhibit to sign autographs on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kansas Department of Agriculture Education and Event Coordinator Kate Bormann said while agriculture is a major sector of the Kansas economy, relatively few Kansans have the opportunity to regularly interact directly with production agriculture.

“Agriland provides fairgoers a one-of-a-kind, interactive, fun opportunity to learn about where our food comes from and how it is produced,” Bormann said. “The exhibit is a great place for families to learn more about the leading role Kansas plays both domestically and internationally in the production of food, fiber and energy for all consumers.”

Visitors to Agriland will have the opportunity to milk Blossom, a mechanical cow, and can use the dairy kiosk to have a picture of their face turned into an electronic butter sculpture. They also can learn about livestock feed rations and touch different Kansas-grown grains. Attendees can walk into the soil tunnel trailer for an under-the-scenes look at what happens in the soils of Kansas.

Agriland is a is a cooperative effort of the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom, Kansas Beef Council, Kansas Wheat, Kansas Grain Sorghum Producers Association, Kansas Corn Growers Association, Kansas Dairy Association, Midwest Dairy Association, Kansas Sunflower Commission, Kansas Soybean Association and Commission, Kansas Agri-Women, Kansas Cotton Association and the Miami County Conservation District.

Agriland will be open Friday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 8 through Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day; and Sunday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Agriland is visited by approximately 5,000 people during the fair each year.
