(KAIR) -- Monday night’s sudden strong thunderstorm in the region caused some areas to be without power for two hours.
According to Westar Energy’s web site, during the peak of the storm, over 25 percent of customers in Doniphan County were without power.
In Atchison County, one thousand 28 of their seven thousand 83 customers were without power during some point.
Power went out around 9:35 Monday night and Westar Spokesperson Erin La Row says 159 of those customers had their power restored at 10:35 while the remaining had theirs restored at 11:30.
La Row says the cause of the outage was an overhead line equipment failure.
Meanwhile, La Row says the cause on another outage that affected over one thousand customers in Atchison County on August 26th remains unknown.
