( KNZA )-- Several area residents have been appointed by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback to state boards and commissions.
Dr. Roy Banks, with Holton Family Practice, has been appointed by the governor to the Kansas Advisory Committee on Trauma.
The 24-member committee advises the Kansas Secretary of Health and Environment on the development and implementation of a statewide trauma system.
Dr. Banks was commissioned in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2007, and was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraq Freedom in 2009 as the Chief of Trauma and Burn Surgery at the 10th Combat Support Hospital with the 44th Medical Command. Last year, he was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a trauma surgeon.
Dawn Masqua of Mayetta, who works in vocational rehabilitation for Prairie Band Pottawatomie Social Services, has been appointed to the Kansas Statewide Independent Living Council.
The mission of the council is to develop a state plan through external input, which ensures independent living for Kansans; advocate for the accomplishment of the state plan objectives; monitor, review, and evaluate the implementation of the plan; and be a statewide catalyst for independent living.
And Danny Zeck of Leavenworth has been appointed to the Kansas Dealer Review Board.
Zeck has worked in the automobile retail industry for 29 years. Until 2009, he was owner and operator of Danny Zeck Ford in Leavenworth.
The board works to improve vehicle dealer practices, makes suggestions and recommendations for changes in current law relating to vehicle sales, acts as a resource for vehicle industry problems and provides expertise to undercover operating problems created by current law, while balancing problems against the greater public interest.
Governor Brownback announced the appointments Friday.
