(KAIR) -- The duo alleged to have attempted to rob an 82-year-old Atchison man early Monday morning have been booked on more charges for their alleged involvement in illegal activity the night before.
Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson explains the new charges against 19-year-old Christopher “Tony” Smith and 20-year-old Matthew Newgent, and a third person allegedly involved.

The duo had their first appearances Monday in Atchison County District Court with robbery, a level five felony, and conspiracy to commit robbery, vehicular burglary and theft.
Bond was set at 25 thousand dollars for both of them and they remain in Atchison County Jail.
The third individual, 17-year-old Dalton Dyer, who has been adjudicated as an adult, was booked on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, vehicular burglary and theft.
Dyer remains in Atchison County Jail awaiting bond and formal charges.
