High school fall sports season is starting to get into their season and volleyball has started up in the Kanzaland area. The Jeff West Invitational was, yesterday as the the Tigers hosted a round-robin tournament with five other schools participating. The tournament only featured three matches out of the 15 that went to three sets.
It was the the preseason ranked fourth team in Class 3A by KVA, Silver Lake coming out on top at the tournament going a perfect 5-0 and only losing one set overall on the day (10-1 in sets). The only time Silver Lake was pushed to three sets was the matchup against the host Jeff West Tigers who finished the tournament in second place with a 4-1 record, going 9-3 in their sets on the day. Silver Lake won the first set against Jeff West 25-19, but the Tigers responded with a 25-19 set of their own to force that third set were Silver lake won it 25-21.
The other four schools involved in the tournament were all from the Delaware Valley League, Valley Falls, Jefferson County North, ACCHS and McLouth. Those teams finished in that order as far a place in the tournament: Valley Falls (3rd), Jefferson County North (4th), ACCHS (5th) and McLouth (6th). Valley Falls went 3-2 in their action only falling to Silver Lake and Jeff West. Jefferson County North finished with a 2-3 record, while ACCHS finished 1-4 and McLouth went 0-5 in the tournament but did force ACCHS to three sets.
