(KNZA)--The preliminary hearing for an Oskaloosa woman, accused of abusing her daughter to the point of long term hospitalization, is now scheduled for the morning of September 13th at 9:00.
The hearing for Lori Courter had been scheduled for this month, but Jefferson County Attorney Jason Belveal says a scheduling conflict forced the continuance, as Courter faces three felony charges, aggravated battery, abuse of a child, and aggravated endangerment of a child.
Courter was arrested in July after medical personnel was called to an Oskaloosa residence for a medical emergency involving Courter's 3-year-old daughter.
The first responders reported the incident to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, due to the appearance of abuse, and Courter was arrested.
First booked into the Jefferson County Jail, she currently remains free on $25,000 bond.
As for Courter's daughter, the little girl was first taken to Kansas City's Children's Mercy Hospital, but, due to the extent of abuse, was transferred to a Shriner's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The 3-year-old victim currently remains under the temporary custody of the State of Kansas.

What a horrendous act this woman did. She is not even her mother or step mother. How dare she hurt a child in this way. And she is out on Bail?? This child is still suffering and she is just walking around. And this newspaper goes ahead and whites these lies only who they say she is She should still be in Jail. Please rewrite the true story!!
