High School fall sports season is upon us and the Kansas Volleyball Association (KVA) has announced the 2012 Pre-Season volleyball rankings. Four Kanzaland volleyball squads have made the pre-season rankings and one other received some votes.
Kanzaland area has one defending volleyball champion this season as the Falcons of Baileyville-B&B captured the Class 1A-Division II crown last season behind head coach, Jessica Koch and finsihed the season 40-6. This season the defending champs will start of the 2012 season as the number one ranked team in Class 1A-Division II. Wetmore who went 32-7 last season and lost to B&B in the sub-state final (25-20, 25-16) last year received some votes for consideration for the Top 5 in Class 1A-Division II.
In Class 1A-Division I and Class 2A the TVL and Kanzaland saw two runner-up finishes at state last season and both teams are highly ranked to start the 2012 season. In Class 1A-Division I, its the Centralia Panthers who finished last season 37-9 as runner-ups at state falling to St. John Hudson in three sets in the championship game. In Class 2A, Washington County finished last season with the same record as Centralia, 37-9 and finished runner-up in their respective class after going three sets with Olpe in the championship game at state.
The other Kanzaland area volleyball team ranked in the preseason rankings is in Class 3A and it's Marysville. Like all the other Kanzaland area teams ranked in the preseason rankings Marysville made the state tournament last season, finishing fourth in Class 3A.
Kanzaland area is full of great volleyball teams on top of those mentioned above in the rankings; one thing is for sure it will be an action packed season in volleyball in the Kanzaland area and fall sports in general.
