(KAIR) -- A 48-year-old Atchison man pleads not guilty to a domestic battery count Monday in Atchison County District Court.
Prosecution will present their case in a jury trial on October 9th against Russell Vanwey.
He was arrested July 30th at a local convenience store by Atchison Police after being located following a report of a disturbance earlier in the day where Vanwey allegedly struck his sister in the 1400 block of South 8th Street.
Police also allege Vanwey threatened his parole officer during that day.
As a result, he was booked on criminal threat charges, and Atchison County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman says that formal charge may be forthcoming.
The parole officer also submitted that day a document that alleges Vanwey violated his parole.
He remains in Atchison County Jail without bond.
A pre-trial conference is scheduled for September 28th.
