(KLZA) A series of meetings, “Forages and Drought: Management and Recovery” will be held across northwest Missouri by University of Missouri Extension to provide the information that producers need, such as how to manage pastures during a drought, how to test for nitrates, emergency forages and feedstuffs, economic strategies to weather the drought, cover crops and other forages, and reseeding pastures.
The meetings will be held at 7 p-m on the evenings of: Monday August 6th, at the Velma Houts Fair Building, Rock Port; Wednesday, August 8, Daviess County Library, Gallatin; Monday, August 13, DeKalb County courthouse meeting room, Maysville. There is a small fee to cover the cost of materials and other meeting expenses.
As a result of the drought, beef cattle producers are at a critical decision-making point regarding their crops, pastures, and cow herds. Long after the drought is over and crops are out of the field, producers will continue to deal with the lasting implications of the drought.
Good information is critical as decisions are made.
