Power has been restored following Wednesday night’s storms that swept through southeast Nebraska. Winds of 50 miles-per-hour and greater Wednesday night knocked down several power poles north of Falls City, including the OPPD line that brings power to Falls City.
OPPD spokesperson Paula Lukowski says power was restored early this (Friday) morning. (play audio :25)
More than 800 OPPD customers – mostly in Richardson County – were without power at the height of the outage. OPPD had originally said all power would be restored by the end of the day today (Friday).
With the power back on, that means there should be no rolling blackouts in Falls City. Falls City Utilities implemented the rolling blackouts Thursday as a way to conserve energy after one of two main generators at the Power Plant broke down Wednesday night. Falls City Utilities was able to generate power locally after the OPPD power line went down Wednesday night.
