(KTNC) - The law enforcement agreement between the city and county is back on the agenda for the Pawnee City Council. The council is scheduled to meet at 7:30 this evening at City Hall.
More discussion is scheduled on the law enforcement agreement. The county’s current offer is for a three-percent annual increase in the contract amount over the next three years, after the city council had previously rejected increases of six percent and four-and-a-half percent.
The city had originally offered a three-percent increase, but City Auditor Julie Bauman has recommended the city not increase the amount by a greater percentage than they give to employees. Bauman is recommending a two-percent increase in employee salaries in the next year.
If the city rejects the law enforcement agreement, it would likely hire a Code Enforcement Officer.
Other action for the Pawnee City Council tonight includes possible action on a salary ordinance. A recommendation is to increase the salary of city employees by two-percent in the next fiscal year.
Action is also expected on the final reading of an ordinance setting up a Wellhead Protection Program.
