A four-run fifth inning was the difference in the game Tuesday, as the Auburn seniors defeated Falls City 5-4 in Legion baseball action at Auburn.
Falls City had taken a 4-1 lead with two runs in the top of the 5th, but Auburn scored four in the bottom of the inning without the benefit of a hit. Falls City committed three errors in the frame, and there were three walks and two hit batters. Falls City outhit Auburn in the game, 6-4.
Nick Behrends pitched a complete game to earn the win, while Josh Stoller was the losing pitcher after coming in relief of starter Derek Bippes. The Falls City Seniors play next at Sabetha on Tuesday.
Auburn erased a seven-run deficit to win the juniors’ game 11-10. Falls City led 10-3 after scoring seven runs in the second inning. Auburn scored five runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth, while relief pitcher T.J. Wynn held Falls City to three hits over the final four innings to earn the win.
