Humboldt to Pay More for Auditorium Windows; Still Waiting for Grant Funds
The City of Humboldt has agreed to pay most of the cost of installing new windows at the Auditorium. The City Council agreed Tuesday night to pay 90-percent of the cost of the window replacement to Jim Hill’s of Falls City.
The council had agreed earlier to pay a smaller portion – amounting to $1,744 – at the request of the Auditorium Board but agreed to the larger payment as the city waits to receive grant funds from the state.
The Nebraska Energy Office awarded Humboldt grant funds totaling more than $74,000 to pay to replace all the windows in the Auditorium, but the city has yet to receive the grant funds.
The new energy-efficient windows have already been installed in the Humboldt Auditorium.
In other business during a short meeting Tuesday, the Humboldt City Council approved a payment of $24,148 to Sargent Drilling for work on the water system improvement project, along with a change order requested by the contractor.
The council approved two building permits. One permit is for James and Erika Reed, and the other is for the HTRS School District for construction of a press box and concession stand at Power Field.
And council members denied Bonnell Mann’s request for a refund of a water bill. Mann said she didn’t use the water she was billed for.
