The Falls City School District used less gasoline and went fewer miles on bus routes in the last school year. That was the word from District Transportation Director Rob Baker, who gave his annual report to the School Board Monday night. (play audio :32 “adds up.”)
Baker said he’s pleased with the new bus purchased last year and he’d like to replace another bus in the fall of 2013. Falls City school buses averaged 8.93 miles-per-gallon of fuel in the last school year, compared with 7.83 miles-per-gallon the previous year.
Baker said the district has to replace its radios in the next year to meet new requirements. That may be a timely requirement, as Baker said they began having reception problems this with the current radios that were installed in the early 1990s, so instead of repairing the old radios, they’ll just get new ones.
