A former Benedictine College football player pleads guilty to amended drug charges Monday in Atchison County District Court.
Abdullah Sabir pled guilty to the felony charge of no drug tax stamp and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Sabir was arrested by Atchison Police in mid-April after investigators learned through the U.S. mail that Sabir received a package in campus mail without a tax stamp containing marijuana.
Initially, Sabir was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within a thousand feet of a school before the plea agreement.
Benedictine College media relations confirmed that Sabir is no longer enrolled at the school.
He was listed on the schools athletics’ site as a reserve defensive back for the football team last season.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 9th.
He could face five the 13 months in prison on the tax stamp charge and up to a year in county jail on the misdemeanor count.
Sabir is free on 40 thousand dollars bond.
