A longtime Seneca police officer is taking early retirement.
The Seneca City Council Wednesday evening took action to grant early retirement to 62-year-old officer Glen Osterhaus and provide health insurance to him until age 65.
Osterhaus has served the city for 29 years.
In other business, the council approved the hiring of two new officers to fill vacancies created by the retirement of Osterhaus and resignation of officer Wayne Alley.
Carolyn Clark will begin work June 4th and Josh Winkler on July 2nd.
Both are certified officers and originally from the area. They will be paid $14 an hour.
And the council approved a request from the Spring Creek Golf Course to hold a public fireworks display, contingent on proof of insurance.
The fireworks display will be held at dusk on Saturday, July 7th on the west side of the driving range.
