Kansas Democratic Caucus Saturday
04/13/2012

The Kansas Democratic Party will be holding its Presidential Preference Caucus Saturday afternoon, at meeting locations across the state.

Registration begins at one, caucus meetings will begin promptly at two.

Statewide, caucuses will be held in 50 different locations. Caucuses in Kansas are organized by Kansas Senate Districts.

The Kansas Democratic Party’s caucuses are open to all Kansas residents, but all caucus goers must apply to register as a Democrat before they may participate in a caucus.

In our region, Residents of Senate District two and Congressional District two will meet at the Riverfront Community Center in Leavenworth, residents of Senate District one will caucus at the Jackson County Senior Center in Holton, and Residents of Senate District 21 and the First Congressional District will caucus in Marysville at the American Legion.

There is only one candidate on the ballot, President Barack Obama.

Kansas Democratic Party leaders turned aside an effort by Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry, a longtime anti-abortion activist whose stated goal is to enter Democratic primaries and caucuses across the country, including winning 15 counties in Oklahoma’s Democratic Primary.

Kansas Party leaders decided he wasn’t a bona fide Democrat and had missed deadlines to get his name on the ballot.
