Two Doniphan County residents have been charged in connection with an alleged child abuse case.
The Kansas Chief reports that 26-year-old Cassie Collins of Highland and 25-year-old Brandon Mottin of Lancaster made their first appearance in Doniphan County Court Monday.
Collins has been charged in Doniphan County District Court with a felony count of aggravated endangerment of a child and Mottin has been charged with a felony count of aggravated battery.
According to court documents, the two-year-old victim suffered serious burns and bruises. The child is currently a patient at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
A preliminary hearing in the case is tentative set for this Monday.
Mottin remains in the Doniphan County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond and Collins in lieu of $50,000 bond.
