Sabetha Golf Team Has Great Performance at Wamego Invite

With spring sports season underway the Sabetha Bluejays golf team competed in their first meet of the year at the Wamego Invitational and saw some great performances from their golfers. The tournament had a two-man and four-man team categories, while also giving out individual medals for overall best round on the day.

In the two-man category it was Sabetha's Josiah Rokey and Kevan Herbster combining for a 201 score to take home fifth place out of seven squads. Rokey, shot a 95, while Herbster shot a 106 on the day. The four-man team for the Bluejays took home first place by 12 strokes with a team total of 336. Matt Manning, Kyle Stallbaumer, Benji Stoller and Nolan Keim all combining to make up the four-team for Sabetha. Manning had the best outing on the day and matter of fact the best round of the tournament, shotting a 76, not only helping his team notch the team win, but taking first overall in the tournament.

While Stallbaumer added an 83 on the day, good enough to give him a medal also on the day with a sixth place finish individually. Stoller, would also individaully medal, upon helping the four-man team take first, as he shot an 87, good for ninth place. Keim was the other particapate on the four-man team, he shot a solid 90 in the tournament.

Teams totals were not tabulated for the meet, but if they would have Sabetha would have took second as a team if all six scores were used; while the Bluejays would have taken first if the best four of the six scores were used, which is the scoring method for all regional and state meets.
