There were a handful of contested races and a few ballot questions determined during municipal elections in northwest Missouri Tuesday.
In Holt County, Mound City voters overwhelmingly said yes to the city issuing $750,000 in general obligation bonds to make street repairs.  The measure was approved with 160 voting in favor and only seven voting against.
In other races, T. Don Buckles won election as Mayor of Forest City, with 42 votes to 34 votes for Dottie Botkin.
Gregory Book was elected to a seat as East Ward Alderman in Oregon with 44 votes, to 26 votes for Matthew Kreek.
And Carla Wetzel and Robert Saxton were elected to open seats on the Nodaway-Holt R-7 School Board.
In Atchison County, voters in Tarkio approved a school bond question by a healthy margin, with 312 voting in favor and 78 against.  Fifty-seven percent was needed for approval.
Atchison County voters approved a $1.2 million bond issue for water system improvements to the county’s Public Water Supply District 1.
Bruce Lang and Rachel Graves won a three-person race for two seats on the Tarkio School Board.  Harold Lawrence and Shannon Tharp were the top two vote-getters in a four-way race for two open seats on the Rock Port School Board.
Curtis D. Elam SR. defeated Rebel Herron, 115-27, in a contested race for Rock Port South Ward Alderman.
And Jack Kruse won election as Fairfax South Ward Alderman, 21-19, over Donna Roop.
Voter turnout was fairly light in far northwest Missouri Tuesday, with 21-percent of voters in Atchison County casting ballots, and just over 15-percent of registered voters in Holt County going to the polls.
