Atchison Public Schools made another step forward towards pursuing a bond election this fall.
The USD 409 board heard a presentation on the next steps from Lori Lanter Monday night.
She said the financial model is still intact with an expected no mill increase by refinancing and extending the life of the current bond.
They board also hired HTK Architects to do an initial analysis on the proposed facilities the district wants to construct to not exceed seven million dollars.
Superintendent Susan Myers says while no action has been given by the board to put a bond to ballot, a target goal has been set to do the work to pursue a November election.

Myers hopes the board will have a decision on the next step by June.
The board also solicited bids to recoat the track at the high school and replace the gym floor at the middle school.
They also accepted the resignation of Assistant Middle School Principal Chris Case.
Mr. Case is accepting a head principal job in another district and now two board members will serve on a committee to find a new Assistant Principal.
The board also hired a new Middle school principal.
Brian Hanson will take over the helm for the next school year replacing retiring Principal Jim Krone.
Hanson comes from another Principal position in southeast Kansas.
