Atchison County is one step closer to having a new ADA compliant elevator in the courthouse.
County Commissioners held a bid opening Wednesday morning with River Bluff architects to install the elevator, as well as institute an electrical upgrade.
They only received one bid for the project, from Hundley Construction for 239 thousand 635 dollars with a promise to complete the project in 240 days.
Hundley was also the only company to bid for the electrical work with a base bid of 46 thousand 284 dollars and an alternate bid of 48 thousand 887 dollars, not including charges from Westar.
The county was able to obtain a grant for matching funds up to one half the total cost from the Heritage Charitable Trust, which would leave 143 thousand dollars on the county’s tab.
They also received three bids to upgrade the women’s restroom ranging from Hundley’s bid of 16 thousand 740 dollars, up to 17 thousand 200 dollars from the other bidders.
No decisions on awarding bids were made as of 10:30 this morning.
The county will also have to pay River Bluff 44 thousand 336 dollars for their services.
