The generosity of a local farmer is being recognized as six Hiawatha FFA members will now be able to strengthen their skills thanks to 25-hundred dollar donation. In a ceremony held Thursday at Hiawatha High School, Chuck and Jane Bebermeyer presented the FFA with the donation, which will be used to send the students to the Leader Lab along with offer its members supervised agriculture experience grants. For the second year in a row, the Bebermeyer’s have won the money through America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund. The program gives farmers in more than 12-hundred eligible counties the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. The Monsanto Fund has invested more than $3.1 million to rural communities this year alone, with more than $580,000 donated to nonprofits in Kansas.
