Linda S. Chesnut, 67, of Reserve, died Monday afternoon, April 14, 2014, at her home.
Linda was born September 16, 1946, at Maryville, Missouri, one of four children born to Dean and Leota McKim Troncin and moved with her family at a young age to Falls City, Nebraska where she attended school. She worked for 33 years at Flair Fold in Hiawatha, until it closed, as a foreman. Linda then worked at White Cloud Casino for 9 years before retiring in 2009.
She was a longtime member of the Christian Church at Reserve until it closed. She became a member of the Falls City Bethel United Methodist Church. Linda was very devoted to her family. She liked to fish, camp, to bake, and plant flowers. She was active with the Brown County Relay for Life.
She was married to James E. “Jim” Chesnut, Jr., February 27, 1966, at the Reserve Christian Church. They have made Reserve their home most of their married life. He survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters: Cindy (Mike) Scott of Falls City, NE, Myrietta (Curtis) Leach of Hays, KS; two brothers: Larry Troncin of Falls City, Gary Troncin of Maryville, MO; and four grandchildren: Dillion Scott, Avery Scott, Kaelin Leach, and Mason Leach.
A Celebration of Linda’s life is planned for 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, at the Falls City Bethel United Methodist Church, east of Falls City. Pastor Karla Shafer will officiate. Interment will follow at Cornelison Cemetery, east of Reserve.
Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. Thursday. A Prayer Service is planned for 6:30 Thursday evening at the funeral home, followed by the family visiting with friends until 8.
