Richard Russ
Falls City , NE

Richard Russ, 78, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 11, 2012 at Falls City. He was born October 4, 1933 at Woodston, KS to the late Robert and Stella (Dunlap) Rus.

 

On April 1, 1956 he married Joyce Henson at the Assembly of God Church at Woodston.

 

At the age of six, Richard’s mother died and he was raised by his grandfather, George Dunlap and his aunt, Rosa Dunlap. He graduated from Woodston High School and attended one semester of college at Ft. Hays, KS before returning to help his father farm. He farmed until becoming a salesman for Morton Salt Company. In 1973 he became employed at the Robinson Co-op until he because a furniture craftsman when they lived in Oklahoma. They moved to Falls City in 2000. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th and Towle) at Falls City. He belonged to the Robinson Lions Club and was active in Melodrama and was past president and district president.

 

Richard is survived by his wife, Myrna of Falls City, daughters, Regenia Faller and her husband Bradley of Falls City, Cheryl Roberts of Hiawatha, KS, son, Rodney of Muldrow, OK, brothers, James and his wife Kathy of Kansas City, MO, Ronnie and Carolyn of Canby, OR, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Frances Russ.

 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating.

 

No viewing or visitation. Friends may sign the register during regular business hours at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
