Carol Jeanette Christian, 66, lovingly known as Jeanette, passed away on July 20, 2025, at her home in Lenexa, Kansas. Born September 23, 1958 to Leo and Carol (Marshall) Bickford in Holton, Kansas, Jeanette brought warmth, generosity, and joy into the lives of everyone who knew her.

Jeanette was a devoted mother to her three sons—Jordan (Connie), Jason (Yi-Ling), and Justin (Kathryn) Christian—and a beloved daughter to her mother, Carol Bickford, and Nana to her five grandchildren Zac, Kellan, Riley, Dylan, and Oliver Christian. She is preceded in death by her cherished husband of 31 years, Michael Christian, and her father, Leo Bickford. She is survived by her brother, Richard "Rick" (Paula) Bickford; sister, Teresa "Terri" (Mike) Blake, and many nieces and nephews.

A true captioning pioneer and advocate, Jeanette dedicated her life to making captioning accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing. As the co-founder of 1CapApp, she built a platform that impacted lives across the United States and around the world. Her influence in the captioning community remains profound and everlasting.

Beyond her professional achievements, Jeanette was deeply passionate about her family. She found joy in creating glass mosaics and cherished her time in Sarasota with her family, where many special memories were made—including a recent family vacation to the beach and Disney World just days before her passing.

Jeanette's kind heart, her ability to put others first, and the joy she brought to those around her will be remembered always. Her favorite phrase, "I love you to the beach and back," will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64081.
